Science diplomacy, the climate crisis, and global health on the agenda at Science Arena event in August
The event will take place in São Paulo on August 6, providing a chance to discuss the role of international scientific collaborations in tackling the climate crisis and its effects on global health

A few months before COP30 takes place in Brazil, Science Arena will bring together experts from various countries to discuss the importance of international cooperation programs in dealing with challenges related to the climate crisis and its effects on global health.
The event, which will be held at the Albert Einstein Teaching and Research Center, Cecília and Abram Szajman Campus, in São Paulo at 9.30 a.m. (Brasília time) on August 6, is the result of a partnership between Science Arena and the São Paulo Innovation and Science Diplomacy School (InnSciD SP), established by the University of São Paulo (USP) in 2019.
Participating in the event are names such as Eric Harnisch, vice president of Provider Market at Mayo Clinic Platform (USA); Jerome Kim, director general of the International Vaccine Institute; Jordan Ridgeway of My Green Lab, an American nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of research laboratories; and Sidney Klajner, president of Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein.
Registration is free and open until August 4. The event will be in-person and entirely in English. A certificate of participation will be issued to all attendees.
The intersection between science, innovation, and diplomacy is one of the topics to be addressed at the meeting. The agenda also includes debates on:
- How to coordinate knowledge networks
- What are the challenges for global science with respect to the risk of new epidemics?
- How can we reduce the environmental impact of scientific production?
